Funding Support for Students
This course is for candidates looking to develop the key skills and understanding in motor vehicle systems. Successful candidates will have the basic skills needed to apply for an automotive apprenticeship or similar engineering pathway. It will allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the automotive industry.
You will be able to remove and replace parts and components from heavy vehicles. You will also be able to service heavy vehicles.
GCSE Maths at Grade D or above and GCSE English at Grade E or above.
Assessment consists of assignments (practical assessment workbooks) comprising of practical tasks and knowledge based online multiple choice tests.
Completion of this course allows candidates to progress into employment or to the Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Omagh Campus)
Learners will be placed in a garage and attend college two days per week. You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at level 2 if you do not have a GCSE grade C in these subjects. You will also study broader transferable skills in Employability and Personal and Social Development where appropriate.
