How do I apply?
You can apply online for most courses at SWC, using our application portal. Our website works like your favourite online shop – simply find the course you want to apply for and click “apply” You can even add more than one course to your shortlist, if you’re undecided between courses.

These notes provide a short guide to help you complete your online application.
Valuable information about email addresses
If you do not already have an email address, you will need to create one before you apply online.
You will not be able to apply online using a school email address i.e., those ending with @c2kni.net.
Parents, school staff or other professionals who wish to help students use the online admissions portal must not register to create an application on behalf of students. They must ensure the student has an email address and registers personally.
A unique email address must be provided for each applicant
Stage 1 – Search for course on the website, add to list and checkout
Explore our college website to search for the course you wish to apply for.
Use search bar in menu to find a course Add course to list and when you are happy with your selection, proceed to apply for course(s).
Add course to your 'list' or simply click 'apply' if this is the only course you're applying for Upon clicking 'Apply Now' you will be redirected to the admissions portal.
*You can apply for up to three courses.
Stage 2 – Log In to the admissions portal
Before submitting your application online, you must create a user account on our admissions portal.
Click ‘Create Account’ to set up your account.
If you have already registered, enter your username and password to log in.
If you have forgotten your username, check your account creation email which contains your username.
If you have forgotten your password, click on the ‘Forgot your password?’ link and follow the instructions which will be sent to your email.
Stage 3 – Complete and submit your application
Complete the online application form by entering your personal details.
Review the information you have entered and edit if necessary before submitting your application.
On completion, you will be asked to assign a choice or course preference to each of the courses you are applying for, as well as how you heard about the course.
If interview dates have been arranged and setup you will be asked to select an interview slot.
Note: The standard entry requirement for many courses may be waived if alternative qualifications or experience can be offered.
Higher Education Courses
Most Higher Education courses such as a HNC, HND, Foundation Degree or Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BSc), can be applied for directly to the college via the process mentioned previously. However, some courses require you to apply via UCAS or directly to Stranmillis. This will be mentioned in the course information.
Apply Directly
If you are applying for most Higher Education courses, or are looking to study part-time, please use our online application system to apply – simply follow the steps in ‘Applying for courses at SWC.’
Apply via UCAS
If you are applying for the Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies or Queens University Belfast Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Energy, Environment and Sustainability, you should apply online through UCAS using the button on the course page. To apply through UCAS for 2022 entry, you will be required to pay £13 for one choice and £24 for more than one choice.
Apply via Stranmillis
Applications for the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies from Stranmillis University College; validated by Queen’s University Belfast must be made to Stranmillis directly before 31st March on year of entry.

You can log in to the admissions portal at any time to check the progress of your application, update your personal details, list the qualifications you are currently studying, enter results of qualifications you have already received, upload photographic ID, upload evidence of results or check the communications you have received.

Our dedicated International Office provides on-going advice and support for each student from pre-application to arrival and throughout their duration of study at the College. The College’s aim is to ensure that all international students will have an enriching educational and cultural experience during their time in Northern Ireland.

Age Limit
Students must be 16 years of age on or before 1st July 2025 to enrol on any of the courses in the South West College.
All Applicants Welcome
The College welcomes applications from mature students, students with qualifications from other countries and those seeking to gain qualifications. The standard entry requirement for many courses may be waived if alternative qualifications or experience can be offered. For further information on fees for overseas students, please contact the Admissions Office at the relevant campus.
ID
All students will be required to produce ID upon enrolment e.g., Passport, Driver’s Licence, National Insurance Card, Electoral Card etc.
