Overview

This qualification recognises learners' understanding of administrative functions and activities. It accredits learners' abilities to carry out a range of administrative tasks autonomously and has been designed to accredit their achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the work context.

During the one year programme learners will study two compulsory units: Working in Administration; Written Business Communication; and a number of additional units. Examples of optional units include: Making and Receiving Calls; Welcoming Visitors; Career Planning in Administration; Communicating with Customers; Teamwork in Administration; Financial Transactions; Organising Business Travel and Accommodation; Organising Meetings and Handling Diary Systems. Additional word processing qualifications will also be offered. Learners who do not possess GCSE Maths grade C or equivalent, upon entry will be required to undertake Essential Skills qualifications.

4 GCSEs including English at grade C or equivalent for Apprenticeship only. There are no formal entry requirements for learners studying on a full time programme.

Type of assessment will depend on the particular needs of each individual unit but most units will involve coursework.

Successful learners may progress on to an Apprenticeship or a full time Level 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma programme, typically in Administration. Future public or private sector employment and career pathways include: Administrative Assistant; Receptionist; Sales Representative; Telesales Operator. This qualification provides evidence of achievement of a range of practical skills as well as of underpinning knowledge and understanding of administration.

Word Processing, Sage Accounting, Digital/Social Media, Marketing.
