This exciting new course has been designed by Hospitality and Tourism employers to allow learners to sample across a wide range of roles in the sector. It has a strong emphasis on the ‘soft skill’ development needed in the world of work. Learners will not only develop practical skills enabling them to access the workplace immediately, but the course will also help them make informed decisions about their future career choices. This is a great place to start if you want to take some time to consider your options, while still gaining much sought after skills and confidence. You will be busy and you will love it! This course is available as a traineeship or apprenticeship.
During this one year programme, you will focus largely on three main areas. Front office and accommodation studies will help you understand how customer requirements are met and exceeded in a range of hotel and accommodation businesses – everything from booking to departure. Alongside this, you will learn how to provide a high level of professional food and drink service, barista, wine service and cocktail making – putting the WOW factor into hospitality. Finally, you will extend your skills by investigating the tourist industry locally and regionally – finding out about all the wonderful attractions we have on our doorstep and all the factors that will make sure tourists have an amazing experience. All this will be done while you embed the best of workplace skills – everything employers expect to see in the workforce of the future.
The objectives of the OCN NI Level 2 Diploma in the Principles and Practices of the Hospitality and Tourism Team Member will enable learners to gain skills and knowledge relating to the following:
Course Entry Requirements: Learners should be at least 16 years old and be able to demonstrate an interest in the hospitality and tourism sector during interview.

This Diploma will allow learners to progress to higher level qualifications in areas of their choice. SWC can offer progression to Level 2 & 3 Diplomas in Travel and Tourism or Level 2 & 3 Diplomas in Professional Food and Beverage Service or Hospitality Supervision and Leadership. Learners may choose to take on an apprenticeship with the many employers they will have come in contact with throughout the programme.
