Overview

This course has been designed to meet the specific needs of the local engineering industry by providing a range of higher level technical skills in manufacturing, procurement and management.

The course is aimed at those working in the engineering industry and seeking an academic progression route whilst continuing to work. It is also designed for persons who want to formalise the skills already acquired in the industry or those wishing to re-skill.

In addition to this, the course is also aimed at full time students completing A-Levels, BTEC National Diplomas or Level 3 Apprenticeships who wish to continue their academic career in Engineering.

This course provides a nationally recognised qualification offering career progression and professional development.

This course will provide students with the core knowledge, skills and techniques that all engineers require, irrespective of future specialism, to achieve high performance in the engineering profession.

In addition, Presentation, Interpersonal and Teamwork skills will all be developed throughout the duration of the course.

All modules are compulsory.

Completion of this HNC will facilitate progression to higher-level roles within the candidate’s own place of work.

Progression routes from BTEC Level 4 Engineering within SWC include part-time and full-time Foundation Degrees and HLA’s (Higher Level Apprenticeships) in Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering.
