IMI LEVEL 4 Award in The Diagnostic, Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles and Components

Overview

South West College is please to offer a suite of Electric/Hybrid courses delivered across the academic year.

To enrol onto this Level 4 course students must have completed both the IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities followed by IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.

Each level is completed in 6 calendar weeks. It is possible to complete all 3 courses within an academic year beginning in September 2025 and completing in March 2026. Please check the website links for each course start date.

This qualification is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid high voltage vehicle systems and components. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and associated systems.

The qualification is essential to ensure the health and safety of individuals working on electric/hybrid vehicles. On completion of this qualification technicians will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the skills required for repairing high voltage vehicle systems and components.

Selection criteria for entry will take in to account each applicant's existing academic/vocational qualifications and experience in working in the automotive industry.

Practical Assessments, oral assessments and Written assessments.

On completion of this level 4 Award in the Diagnosis, testing and repair of Electric / Hybrid vehicles and components students may consider applying for other relevant courses for example the Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Automotive Diagnostic Techniques.
