Funding Support for Students
GCSE Maths is a ‘must-have’ qualification, which can open a wide range of opportunities from promotion at work to entrance to a good university. Once on the course, students follow a unitised syllabus and then complete the course with a set of examinations at the end June. There is an initial assessment prior to the start of the course to ensure that students are on an appropriate level course.
The course follows the CCEA GCSE Mathematics Syllabus and covers the following areas: Number, Algebra, Ratio, Proportion and Rates of Change, Geometry, Probability and Statistics.
There are no formal entry requirements, although after their Initial Assessment some students may be advised to follow a Math's Refresher course first. During the first few weeks of the course, they can get advice from the teacher and change to the refresher course if they so wish.
End of Year Examination.
By successfully completing the GCSE Maths course, students will not only acquire Maths knowledge but a series of transferable skills (e.g. problem solving or the ability to read, interpret and communicate mathematical information) which can be then implemented in a variety of life and work contexts.
