Applicants should normally have obtained the following UCAS points achieved through the completion of A-Levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved level 3 qualifications:

Full Time: 64 UCAS tariff points (minimum)

Part Time/HLA: 56 UCAS tariff points (minimum)

Applicants must also have attained at least four GCSE passes at grade C/04, or equivalent approved qualifications. In addition, applicants must provide evidence of competence in written and spoken English Language. For entry to this programme, applicants should have attained a C/04 grade in GCSE English language.

Note: Students who have not attained GCSE Mathematics or equivalent will have the opportunity to undertake a recognised Level 2 Mathematics qualification while studying on the FdSc programme.

Where an applicant does not hold the formal academic requirements for entry to the programme but can demonstrate relevant experiential learning across a range of industries, they may apply for admission through the College Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) process. In such cases, contact the Course Director for the programme who will advise further.

To be eligible to commence study on the HLA Pathway, applicants must have secured full-time paid employment in a relevant hospitality or tourism sector.

Course International Entry Requirements:

International students (for whom English is not their first language), must demonstrate their competence in written and spoken English at IELTS – Academic 6.0, with minimum 5.5 in all four elements of the test. Trinity ISE - Pass at Level 3 (with a Pass in each component) also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.

Assessment will take the form of written assignments, written reports, presentations using digital technology and class tests. Learners will complete a period of Work Based Learning and complete a project whilst on placement.

On completion of the course successful learners may progress to Honours Degrees such as International Tourism Management at Ulster University. Summer bridging options for final year entry are possible subject to academic performance and mapping of modules or pathway undertaken. Learners can progress into employment in a wide variety of organisations at junior or duty management level.

Part-Time: £285 per 20-credit module and £570 per 40-credit module

During your course you may be required to purchase course textbooks and incur additional costs for uniform, field trips, printing, photocopying and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £100 or more per year.
