Have you struggled with ICT and want to improve your skills?

If this sounds like you, then South West College, Essential Skills Course in ICT is for you and best of all, it's FREE!

Classes are delivered during the day and in the evening to suit everyone. Classes in ICT are available from Entry Level through to Level 2 (achievement at Level 2 is comparable to GCSE standard).

The classes are designed to help improve your ICT. You will be able to learn at your own pace, practise how to use the skills you learn in everyday situations, gain qualifications that employers will recognise.

At Level 1 learners will be able to apply ICT skills independently to meet needs, to exchange information and to solve problems in a range of familiar situations. Students will learn basic operations using various Microsoft Office packages, acquire efficient internet and search engine techniques as well as developing skills for basic PC operations.

In Level 2 Essential Skills ICT, learners will use a mixture of packages for word processing, spreadsheets and databases to meet the needs of their coursework tasks and which they can use in their work or personal life. Learners will also learn to use email for the sending and receiving attachments and storing contacts, file saving and retrieving and correct PC operations.

For Level 1 - Have a very basic knowledge of computers or completed the City and Guilds Start IT certificate.

For Level 2 - Completed Essential Skills ICT Level 1 or a good level of experience in using the Microsoft Office package.

The completion of a portfolio of work based on a real-life scenario given to you by your tutor. (100% coursework assessed)

Successful completion of Essential skills L1 lead on to Essential Skills ICT Level 2.

Successful completion of Essential Skills Level 2 equips learners to apply for The Ulster University Access Diploma in Computing or Microsoft Office Specialist qualifications.
