Funding Support for Students
The Level 1 Introductory Welding Awards in either MIG/MMA/TIG are ideal for anyone who wants to become a welder and is new to welding.
The Level 2 Award in Welding Skills is ideal if you are already working in welding and fabrication industries and are looking to develop your skills further, to increase your responsibilities and knowledge.
Level 1
You will learn how to produce a range of welded joints to acceptable industrial standards, using either the MIG/MMA/TIG welding process.
Level 2
This qualification will allow you to:
Level 1 - no formal entry requirements.
Level 2 Entry Requirements
Have completed Level 1 Welding or already working in welding and fabrication industries.
Candidates will be required to complete the following assessments:
A Level 1 Award in Introductory Welding Skills (MIG/MM/TIG) could help you develop your welding and fabrication career and take on jobs that require basic skills. After taking a Level 1 qualification, you can progress to the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Welding Skills.
The Level 2 Award in Welding Skills could help you develop your welding and fabrication career further and take on jobs that require more specialist skills. After successful completion of this qualification you can progress on to a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering or a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Advanced Welding Skills.
Applying to the City & Guilds Award in Welding offers you the choice of one of the following options pending availability per campus/start date as detailed below:
On the first evening of the course, you will choose which available Level 1 Award you prefer to undertake.
You may be asked to undertake a welding assessment to deem your suitability for City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Welding Skills.
