Young people who have successfully completed the Connections programme at South West College were recently praised for their efforts in overcoming personal barriers to return to education, training or employment and urged to continue to believe in themselves to achieve their goals.
Established in 2013 and funded by the Department for Employment and Learning Collaboration and Innovation Fund, Connections is designed to match 16-24 year olds not involved in education, training or employment, with suitable opportunities in a working or educational setting through collaborative mentoring and guidance.
Inspirational guest speaker at the event, World Disabled Water Ski Champion, Dr Janet Gray MBE, shared her experience of achieving great things in the face of adversity, namely losing her sight at a young age and surviving a near tragic accident before going on to compete in water sports again!
Well done to all the students involved!
