The South West College Foundation Diploma in Art and Design class of 2015 welcomed their family, friends and special guests to the hugely popular and widely anticipated end of year art exhibition, hosted at the Higher Bridges Gallery at the Clinton Centre in Enniskillen from 8th – 22nd May.
The exhibition showcased a broad range of expertise and talent across a breadth of disciplines including fine art, sculpture, photography, textiles, fashion and film, all of which encompassed the tapestry of knowledge and experiences of each student.
Special guests attending the launch included Jennifer Johnston from the First Trust Bank (sponsors of the First Trust Bank Best in Show Award), Malachy McAleer (Director, South West College), Ken Ramsey (Erne Crafts, Enniskillen) and renowned author Carlo Gebler.
James Carroll was awarded the First Trust Best in Show Award for her creative fashion outfits based on the study of fish. James collection will be exhibited in the First Trust branch in Enniskillen for a year. Gabrielle Flynn was this year’s recipient of the Ken Ramsey Award, which recognises the most innovative collection, for her superb piece ‘My loss, my gain’. Gabrielle was delighted to be awarded with this award. ““I am honoured to receive this award from Ken Ramsey’s art shop. Kens shop is a wonderful art shop and Ken is very knowledgeable about art.”
Speaking at the opening night of the art exhibition, Kate Sheridan (Curriculum Manager for Art and Design, South West College) said;
“An exciting colourful night where students showcased their individual talents & skill. This is the culmination of a year’s work with each student securing a place on a BA Hons degree course of their choice.”
