14 construction and civil engineering students from South West College in Omagh were given the rare chance to visit Gortin’s prospective gold mine recently – the Curraghinalt Project.
The group was welcomed by a team of experts working on the project, including a Geologist, an Environmental Engineer and a Civil Engineer, before setting off to explore the Sperrin Mountains to view the gold bearing rocks from underground and to see first-hand how geological deposits in the existing tunnels are tested.
