The apprenticeship is designed to up-skill and qualify employees currently working in the insurance sector, focussing mainly on the General Insurance pathway which is accredited by City and Guilds and the Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII).
Speaking at the recent launch of the apprenticeship framework, Ciaran McManus, Deputy Head of Training at South West College said: “The Apprenticeship in Providing Financial Services offers employees in the local insurance sector with access to a fully-funded personal development opportunity whereby part-time study is combined with employment.”
South West College works in partnership with participating employers to deliver training at a time and location which meet business needs. Training can be delivered on-site or at the College.
Paul McMullan, Kerr Group Insurance said: “At Kerr Group we have had a very positive experience of the apprenticeship, particularly the college’s flexibility to working with staff on site as we have offices in 5 of the 6 counties across Northern Ireland.”
Employers are eligible for an incentive of up to £500 on successful completion of the apprenticeship framework. A number of local companies are currently working alongside the College on the programme, including Enniskillen-based Brady Insurance and Dickson and Co in Omagh.
