Severfield in Ballinamallard officially opened an in-house Apprentice Training Academy on Thursday 2nd November at 10:30am. The Northern Ireland site is part of the Severfield Group, the United Kingdom’s Market Leader in structural steel and a company that employs over 2000 individuals across the UK and in mainland Europe. Severfield’s Ballinamallard site itself is credited for some of the most iconic buildings in the United Kingdom, from 30 South Colonnade in London to the V&A in Dundee.
The fame and quality of these buildings can be traced back to the talent working on the Severfield fabrication line. Proactive in promoting the value of apprenticeships, Severfield’s Northern Ireland site currently employs 17 apprentices/trainees, all from the surrounding areas of Fermanagh and Tyrone.
Understanding the importance of its people, Severfield is determined to provide employment opportunities for the youth in rural Fermanagh and surrounding areas and is committed to expanding the program further by working closely with South-West College. By collaborating with SWC, Severfield can enable the fulfilment of recognised qualifications for all apprentices on the Ballinamallard site itself. The in-house capabilities of the new training space, alongside a newly appointed internal instructor, will ensure that all apprentices have access to a training facility vital to their success.
Commenting on the launch, Severfield’s Ballinamallard site Production Director, Maeve Gallagher, said: “At Severfield, our people are our business and our future. We know that we need to create an environment where our apprentices can take time out to practice, train and learn new skills. It has been great to partner with the South-West College and to promote the value of Engineering Apprenticeship courses, all of which bring employment to Fermanagh and the surrounding areas.”
The launch of the new in-house Apprentice Training Academy at Ballinamallard highlights Severfield’s continued dedication to the communities of Fermanagh and surrounding areas. By investing in apprentices in Ballinamallard and beyond, Severfield continues to support and grow the talent of tomorrow.
