The CREST Centre, at South West College will host an ‘Opportunities in Digital Manufacturing’ event on Tuesday 22nd November 2016 at 10.00am.
The event will be a forum for discussion and networking in relation to current trends in manufacturing such as; 3D Printing, Product Design, Advanced Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things.
Key note speakers at the event will include: Dr Stephen Brennan, Chief Digital Advisor to the Irish Government, Justin Quinn, Ulster University, Paul Hermon, Queen’s University and Stephen Kelly, Manufacturing Northern Ireland.
This event is organised as part of the Northern Periphery and Artic Programme, under the Target project. Target is a €2.1 million project led by South West College designed to strengthen the manufacturing sector within the northern region. The project supports companies to compete on a global scale with the introduction of new innovative technology, knowledge and skills, which will help small manufacturing companies in the region gain competitive advantage and potential to become world leaders in their sectors.
The TARGET Project runs from May 2015 to June 2018, with partners spread across northern Europe. The project Partners are, South West College Northern Ireland (Lead Partner), Centria University of Applied Science Finland, The Arctic University Norway, Lulea University of Technology Sweden, Cavan Innovation & Technology Centre and Cavan and Sligo Local Enterprise Offices.
Edel McCusker, Programme Co-ordinator, South West College explained, “The aim of this project and this event, is to develop the tools to allow manufacturing companies in the NPA Region to adapt and embrace the next generation of technology and innovation. Each of the partner organisations have specialist skills sets focused on ensuring that their local and regional manufacturing base will be globally competitive and innovative through the utilisation of the advanced technology and digital manufacturing techniques available through the partnership”.
