To celebrate the Chinese New Year 2019 – Year of the Pig - 240 pupils representing six schools across Co Tyrone participated in the Chinese New Year celebrations at our Dungannon campus.
The event, organised by the College’s Confucius Hub, showcased a variety of Chinese cultural activities including paper cutting, Peking Mask painting, Tai Chi, Chinese calligraphy, handkerchief spinning and traditional Chinese costumes and closed with a performance by the twelve Mandarin Chinese tutors working in SWC Confucius Hub.
The SWC Confucius Hub, now in its fifth year has enjoyed considerable growth of the Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture classes they deliver in schools across counties Tyrone, Fermanagh, Armagh & Down with enrolments in 2018/19 exceeding 3750 pupils.
In addition to the school provision, Mandarin Chinese Evening Classes are delivered in each SWC campuses in Dungannon, Enniskillen and Omagh and SWC recently launched their new online Business Chinese course which gives learners the unique opportunity to gain the basic and essential fundamentals of Chinese business language, etiquette and understanding.
