Pictured are students from the SOLAS Momentum BUILD programme along with their tutor Fiona Brazill (South West College) and Program Manager Dympna McCarron (Cavan Innovation and Technology Centre) who recently visited the South West College’s new award-winning CREST Centre in Enniskillen. This sustainable construction programme aims to equip jobseekers with the skills, qualifications and access to work opportunities in the growing sector of sustainable construction.
The team viewed the CREST Passive Pavilion - the first educational facility of its kind in the UK to be Passive House certified, BREEAM Excellent rated and carbon neutral - in addition to learning more about the centre’s facilities, equipment, support services and suite of learning programmes to help position NI and the cross-border region as a hub for the development of smart and innovative technologies in the emerging sustainability sector.
On completing the 23 week Momentum programme, participants will have gained a City and Guilds Certificate/Diploma in Sustainable Construction including being matched with a suitable employer to complete a period of work placement.
