South West College Technology and Skills Centre in partnership with Errigal Contracts hosted an event to launch an all new Apprenticeship course in Interior Systems (Dry Lining), on Wednesday 29th June. At the well-attended event representatives from Errigal Contracts and South West College took the opportunity to brief the audience on the new ‘earn while you learn’ employment focused opportunities available.
Damien Treanor, Errigal Contracts Director outlined the strategic importance of the Apprenticeship programme to the company saying;
“In order to support Errigal’s continued growth we need to build a strong talent pipeline and the company has identified the Apprenticeship route as the most sustainable vehicle for develop new entrants to our industry. In the next 3 years we indent to recruit and train an additional 200 dry liners. In recognition of the importance we place on this Apprenticeship programme Errigal are providing a remuneration package totalling £30,000 for successful applicants to this programme; during the site based elements of the Apprenticeship successful applicants will receive £320 per week.”
The event was interactive with potential Apprentices given the opportunity to see at first hand the skills required for a career in dry lining, working under the supervision of Errigal Contracts staff to learn the fundamentals of the trade. In his concluding remarks Ciaran McManus Deputy Head of Department at South West College recommended the opportunity to young people seeking a career in the construction industry, saying;
“Errigal Contracts are providing an exciting opportunity for young people to secure a rewarding Apprenticeship with a progressive local company which has global reach; dry lining is an emerging trade which is experiencing significant growth; securing entry to the Interior Systems Apprenticeship can be your passport to a successful career in the modern construction industry”.
