Funding Support for Students
The overall aim of this programme is to provide an academically challenging, intellectually stimulating, and broad-based programme of study at a level appropriate to the award of an Honours Degree. The programme focuses on subjects and disciplines associated with business and management studies and aims to prepare learners for a career in business management in the public, private and voluntary sectors. It focuses on the acquisition and application of knowledge, relevant to the role of the manager in a rapidly changing environment, which is the modern business world. This course also provides you with opportunities to develop and enhance your range of personal and interpersonal transferable skills, which are vital to successful performance in the workplace.
In Year 1 you will study:
A relevant HND or Foundation Degree in Business or equivalent is required to gain entry onto this programme. Applicants must satisfy Ulster University’s general entrance requirements which includes GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C or above.
To be eligible to commence study on this HLA Pathway, applicants must have secured full-time paid employment in a relevant industry sector.
Course International Entry Requirements:
Any applicant whose first language is not English or who has not achieved a grade C in a recent GCSE in English Language should demonstrate their competence in written and spoken English at IELTS – Academic 6.0, with minimum 5.5 in all four elements of the test. Trinity ISE - Pass at Level 3 (with a Pass in each component) also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
All modules undertaken will have a number of group and individual assessment activities including written assignments, reports, oral presentations, class tests and examinations.
As a graduate of this programme, you will possess a combination of knowledge and skills which are attractive to a wide range of employers. The career opportunities available include management level posts in finance, production, purchasing, personnel and marketing in industry and commerce, both in Northern Ireland and further afield. Graduates can progress to postgraduate studies such as a Masters qualification and to industry-specific qualifications.
All modules on the programme are mandatory.
Year 1 only of the programme is offered in the Dungannon and Enniskillen campuses. Learners are required to move to the Enniskillen campus to complete Year 2.
During your course you may be required to purchase course text books and incur additional costs for printing, photocopying and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £100 per year.
