Higher Education Scholarships 2023/24


As part of South West College’s commitment to Widening Access and Participation for pupils from local feeder schools, we are offering five Higher Education scholarships for the academic year 2023/24. The scholarships will be awarded to successful applicants as a fee waiver for the full-time tuition fees over three years. One scholarship is available for each of the following programmes:

Option one

    Ulster University Foundation Degree in Science in Computing (two years) with progression onto The Open University BSc (Hons) Top-Up in Computing Science (one year) Dungannon Campus.

    This Scholarship has a total value of £10,110 over three years.

    Option two

      The Open University Foundation Degree in Visual Media Arts (two years) with progression onto The Open University BA (Hons) Top-Up in Visual Media Arts (Film & Games) (one year) Enniskillen Campus.

      This Scholarship has a total value of £10,110 over three years.

      Option three

      Ulster University Foundation Degree in Engineering in Civil Engineering or Ulster University Foundation Degree in Construction Engineering with Surveying (two years), with progression onto The Open University BSc (Hons) Degree in Construction Engineering & Management Top-up (one year). Omagh Campus.

      Scholarship value: £10,110 over three years.

      Option four

      The Open University Foundation Degree in Sport and Exercise (2-years), with progression onto The Open University BSc (Hons) Degree in Sport and Exercise Top-up (one year). Omagh Campus.

      Scholarship value: £10,110 over three years.

      Option five

        The Open University BSc (Hons) in Corporate Law and Finance (three years). Omagh Campus.

        This Scholarship has a total value of £14,130 over three years.

        Criteria for Application

        • Applicants must be on target to achieve predicted grades of no less than BBB at A level,or equivalent grades for BTEC / OCR Cambridge Technical qualifications. Original evidence of predicted grades must be provided. Applicants who attain higher grades will be ranked higher in the application process.
        • Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs, which includes English and Maths at grade C or above.
        • Applicants must provide evidence of full-time residence in a quintile 1 or quintile 2 postcode address

        • Applicants, as part of the application process, must also submit a 500-word statement detailing why they feel they should receive a South West College Chief Executive Scholarship Award. The statement should provide reasons why you want to study the chosen course and your career ambitions, plus any further comments to support your application, for example, your involvement in extra-curricular or community activities.
