Applicants must have reached the age of 18 years on admission. Successful applicants must have normally reached their 18th birthday by 31 August in the year of entry. All applications will be individually considered.

Successful applicants must have normally studied at Level 3 or above and have completed one of the following: Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy; or Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing; or equivalent recognised qualifications in hairdressing and beauty; or completion of A ‘level study achieving a UCAS tariff score of 48 or above; in this instance, applicants will have to complete a bridging module which is available for the Beauty Therapy pathway only.

Applicants must also possess grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths or other equivalent qualifications, such as Essential Skills Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy.

A work placement in a salon is compulsory.

Where an applicant does not hold the formal academic requirements for entry to the programme but can demonstrate relevant experiential learning, they may apply for admission through the College Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process. In such cases, contact the Programme Director for the programme who will advise further.

English Language Requirements:

Any applicant whose first language is not English should demonstrate their competence in written and spoken English. Usually, the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.0 (with no band score of less than 5.5 in all four elements of the test).

A variety of assessment methods will be used including reports, presentations, exams, case studies and practical assessments etc.

The minimum overall pass mark of 40% is required to be achieved in all modules.

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Degree Hair and Beauty Management, graduates may follow a vocational pathway in either hairdressing or beauty therapy, or they may continue their studies by applying for a place on a degree programme* in a relevant discipline.

Part Time: £300 per 20-credit module. £600 for 40-credit work based learning module

During your programme you may be required to purchase course textbooks and incur additional costs for printing, photocopying, and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £100 per year.

Students are required to:

• Submit all coursework and assessments by specified dates. Coursework submitted without consent after the deadline shall not normally be accepted.

• Pass all modules in each year of study in order to proceed to the next year of the programme.
