Funding Support for Students
This course aims to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of management within a hair and beauty context. It also aims to develop students’ skills in a range of hair and beauty services, which are aligned to the needs of employers in the industry.

This course consists of fifteen modules which provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage a salon or own a business in the hair and beauty industry. There is a strong focus on employability skills and industry knowledge. Students will follow a vocational pathway in hairdressing or beauty therapy where they will develop specialist skills in a range of industry-relevant services.
Applicants must have reached the age of 18 years on admission. Successful applicants must have normally reached their 18th birthday by 31 August in the year of entry. All applications will be individually considered.
Successful applicants must have normally studied at Level 3 or above and have completed one of the following: Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy; or Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing; or equivalent recognised qualifications in hairdressing and beauty; or completion of A ‘level study achieving a UCAS tariff score of 48 or above; in this instance, applicants will have to complete a bridging module which is available for the Beauty Therapy pathway only.
Applicants must also possess Grades C or above in English and Maths or other equivalent qualifications, such as Essential Skill Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy.
A work placement in a salon is compulsory.
Where an applicant does not hold the formal academic requirements for entry to the programme but can demonstrate relevant experiential learning, they may apply for admission through the College Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) process. In such cases, contact the Course Director for the programme who will advise further.
Entry Requirements for International Students:
International students must meet the general entrance requirements for admission to any College First Degree, Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma.
English language requirements for international applicants is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE – Pass at Level 3 also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
A variety of assessment methods will be used including reports, presentations, exams, case studies and practical assessments.
The minimum overall pass mark of 40% is required to be achieved in all modules.
Upon successful completion of the Foundation Degree in Hair and Beauty Management (with specialisms), graduates may follow a vocational pathway in either hairdressing or beauty therapy, or they may continue their studies by applying for a place on a BA programme in a relevant discipline including the Open University BA Hons Hair and Beauty Management (subject to validation).

Part Time: £265 per 20-credit module. £530 for 40-credit work based learning module

During your course you may be required to purchase course textbooks and incur additional costs for printing, photocopying, and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £100 or more per year.
